Maybe try approaching Private Golf Clubs. I know of some who have equipment on course on a commercial basis. I dont know if the repeater group is a business as such, but most of these sites have power and are fairly `safe` sites....... just my two bits worth

Use of UHF CB Repeaters is not private property, although many people desire to own one. I dare say the lisence has been sold and will be relocated to a position which suits the new owner. The main reasons for owning a repeater? 1) so you can put it in the best location so your business/mates can chat, 2) for the advertising space (ident), 3) for your hobby/show off to your mates etc. ;)

My friend bought the rights of a repeater in QLD a while ago for several thousand dollars from an owner and then positioned a repeater and turned it on a repeater was not in use, although the license was valid. It's an excellent repeater but he recently sold it to someone who obviously wanted it's use much more as the new buyer paid something like $7000 more than the original purchase price from the previous owner before that. That money is from one owner to the other, that doesn't cover equipment or transfer fees.

The annual lisence fee from the ACMA is only about $500 per year, plus ongoing site location costs might cost a few hundred $'s but the major cost of purchasing an existing lisence is to 'pay out' the current owner. ;)

Rules of repeater location are: 1) No closer than 30klm to any other repeater including other channels 2) No closer than 100klm to another repeater of the same channel.

Hope this helps.

It's only about $50 a year but to discourage every Bob and Jane applying for a CB repeater license the application fee is around $1000.

I've heard of the 100Km rule but not the 30km rule. If there's a 30km rule then all the Perth repeaters break it...

The rumor I heard was:

Channel 8 is down for maintainence and/or relocation.
Walliston was one of the primary sites they were looking at I believe. Not sure whos tower though...

Emergency repeater's must be 20km apart from each other.
This relates to all channels, not only 5.
(i wonder how that works :?)

Repeater's operating on the same channel must be 100km or more apart.
If less than 100km's apart, an omni-directional antenna with 5° beam down-tilt must be used.

An emergency repeater station may be co-sited with, or adjacent to, a pre-existing general purpose CBRS repeater station.

It's actually located at 197 St Georges Terrace, the old Capita building. I think it's called something different now but can't remember exactly what.

I thought that's where it was located and it was moved (hence the reason why it was off air for a few months)
