Where to get a tower or mast?

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a antenna mast that is about 4-5m tall. I want to put it in the backyard, so it can't be huge. I was thinking of the ones that have a triangular cross section and have 3 uprights that are latticed together. It isn't a problem to use guy wires. It has to hold a uhf antenna, a scanner antenna and maybe in the future some amateur radio antennas.

The triangular ones you mention can get pretty expensive although you can sometimes pick up second hand ones. Keep an eye on
vkham here
You can get the same height putting a shorter mast on the roof.
Have you checked with your council what you can erect? Each council has their own rules.

Do you know anything about the rules for the City of Swan? i've looked over the site but i cannot find any section regarding radios AT ALL! are there any rules?

The council won't have any rules for radios; that's governed by ACMA. The council will have a good say in what structure you erect for your antenna. From what I've heard, Swan is pretty strict.
It's a good bet that you won't be allowed to put a radio tower up in your yard if the distance from the base to the top is more than the distance from the base to your fence (ie if it falls over it shouldn't hit the fence and damage will be restricted to your own property) You could also PM Tyranus.. he has scoped it out for Swan I believe.

Most States no longer allow guyed masts of the type you mention. They must be free standing.

Our club has a guyed mast in Lesmurdie with the council's permission (and on their property too.)
