Band usage revisions 400-520 something MHz

Post by Danger Mouse »

On the ACMA Website, as of today, there is reference to a new discussion paper on this band. It includes the UHF CBRS. see http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_311699
Essentially the major change for UHF CB is to add 40 more channels to the CBRS and make them backwards compatable. =D>
Dang! And I had just got me 40 channel CB installed for on highway use!

Actually it only adds 20 more Channels, at 12.5 KHz spacing, interleaved between existing Simplex channels. The Repeater and Telemetry channels remain unchanged.

and isn't really 'backwards compatible' as the channel width for all the 'simplex' channels is changing from 25khz to 12.5khz..

When I entered this topic I missed the fact there was an existing thread from 2008 on the same subject started by Raymond999. This latest request from ACMA is the revised discussion from the earlier discussion - if you can follow my twisted logic here...

Thats one thing that worried me, im gonna get rid of my radio i think.
ive been waiting a while to see what their decision was on that.

at the time they were accepting feedback for the idea and i put in a vote to try stop it.

but it seems its going ahead.

I dont really care now since i dont talk on CB anymore, i much prefer amateur.
