However, the repeater commitee need to take into account that most of the users of the repeater, don't want to listen to the news report. The majority find it boring and unuseful. The management of the repeater need to re-asses their desition of relaying it over a CB repeater.
Cheers!

Some CBers are interested in Amateur radio, some aren't. The ones that aren't can always go do something else for those 2 hours on a Sunday.

The old UHF Association guys wanted to relay the news for years on channel 8, but I guess it took the channel 1 owner to make it happen :-)

So, uhh, not a fan then I take it, Lucas_arts_182? C'mon, it's not that bad! 8)

It's amateur radio news, naturally it's going to be about AR.

Hmm.. that just about sums it up lol. If he did a pole and asked all the users of the repeater, he would see no one is interested and its a waste of time. If we wanted to listen to it we would go get our ammature licence. I mean.. its pretty much inbedded into our skulls now how to do so.

Oh well. Take it up with the owner then. I think it's a good thing as many (if not most) amateurs have come from a CB background.

you still hear good operators on simplex , eg. 17 and prc guys on 25, and we have taken it up with the owner , only to be abused and squashed out and told to "F off back to our simplex channel" ,ITS A PUBLIC REPEATER SO WHY SHOULD WE?

Surely if someone owns the actual hardware and license to run a repeater on ch1 etc. then they can broadcast what they want over it?? Don't use my cb for much other than when chatting to SES mates and then thats all done on ch 9.

Thats right. I reccomend those that don't operate CB, you should start sand bagging on the repeater and see how the users of it get treated by the owner sometimes. Lucas_arts_182 was being abused and squashed the other night by the owner. It happens all the time, he starts up arguments and problems amoung users. The repeater should be owned by someone who isn't such a controll freak.
