Is 27mhx ssb dead?

Hi Guys and Gals,

It's been a long while since my old 27 meg days..
PW3 Neil was almost King of the hill
WAC591 Peter was blasting out over everyone from the East Perth Rail Terminal,
The CC (clown club) was terrorizing the airwaves..
and there were actual working radio inspectors that occasionally checked if people
were licensed (if there were enough complaints about them).

My questions are..

Is there any sociable activity on 27mhz?
If so where would one purchase a suitable rig from? ( the only active cb shop I know of)
W.A.C.B looks to be only selling UHF radios, and I'm a bit dubious of purchasing an
old second hand radio that sat in someones shed, spare room / garage for the last 30 years which would
throw great suspicion on the viability of the capacitors etc.

I did have a look thru the forums, but the last post I could find on the subject
was from 2015..

Cheers
Nads
