400.000 uhf?

Post by maximus »

went to a mates house and their kids got given ebay uhfs for xmas. they had no clue about them and had them on 400.000 the whole time. I have given them a lecture about it and programmed cb ch16 but wondering is 400.000 used by anyone official?

Couldn't find an entry in the ACMA database for 400.000 MHz but there are a couple registered to the Department of Defence at 400.500 MHz.

Either way what you say is right, they shouldn't even have those radios without an appropriate licence never mind be using it on whatever random frequency it defaults to ;)

I believe 400-403 is primarily for satellite and meteorology.

Edit. Found the chart here It is being superseded shortly but that area isn't likely to change.

That one is 2009. It is being updated right now. There are changes that came into effect on 1st Jan. It will be based on this more detailed document which is up to date.
