VH-RIO at Jandakot for the next few days (mid Feb 2010)

Post by w0mbat »

Hi all.

For the spotters out there, RIO will be doing it's night landings at Jandakot while Perth has it's runways painted black.
There may be day movements as well depending on tasking.

Cheers

why night landings... both runways are open at night at perth, except 03/21 has a displaced threshold

Works will take place on the intersection of the main and cross runways between 12.30am - 5.30am from Tuesday 16 February to Friday 26 February. During this time there will be no aircraft landing or taking off at Perth Airport.
Its been very quiet around the belmont side of the crosswind runway

I noticed today on the drive to jandakot that they were using the main runway.... not a clue why tho - maybe the contractors wanted a day off?

I can also confirm no aircraft were heard from any usage of the cross runway today.

Ya... ok. It's an old joke from when roadworks used to be done around our house when I was a child.
Obviously not a NOTAM....

But still nice to see a Jet outside the door here sometimes :)

The works are currently being carried out between 0020 and 0520 hrs, where the whole airport is shut down for fixed wing arr and dep's. It will be another 4 or so days before the southern half is started.
