...as well as the landing charges at Jandakot being cheaper than those at Perth.

Price at perth for a 172: about $60, price at jandakot: $25... you do the maths

Yeah, I do not think we are moving any time soon.
The VH-RIO jet is a 3 year trial at this point.
There is no RFDS base at Perth (Maroomba). There is a transfer area (from Jet to Ambulance) and a crew room for RFDS staff to wait in.
There are other reasons Jandakot will remain.
One of them is it's really nasty for everyone else when a medical priority flight wants to go -through- Perth airspace to get to Jandakot, let alone land there.
Another is that once the patient is on a bus (Ambulance with lights/sirens) ) it's faster to get to Perth than from either Perth airport.
Jandakot Airport is also to be recognized for donating all RFDS landing costs. I do not know if Perth do this also.
Cheers

And presumably another bonus is when the new Fiona Stanley Hospital is up and running that it's only a hop, skip and a jump from Jandakot?w0mbat wrote:Another is that once the patient is on a bus (Ambulance with lights/sirens) ) it's faster to get to Perth than from either Perth airport.
I'd be surprised if that wasn't also a factor.
