A new frequency in use today: 265.1. Sounds like it might be the RSAF.

I don't know if anyone else was listening, but this past week has been the most intense I've heard in 20+years of milair scanning. Many frequencies in the 225-400 area that I've never heard in use before.

Related to the Navy exercise maybe? We saw quite a few naval craft using Gage Roads last week.

For sure. From what I've heard it sounds like they're also doing exercises in conjunction with the RAAF.

Yep RAAF have been involved, they've been flying over my house heading out to the ocean and back daily lately, some in pairs and then in 4's.

Had a friend who was in this excercise [boat] and the pilot to broke the sound barrier apparently did two runs, one which sounded like a small gun shot and the second cause the whole ship to rattle nd roll like it never has done before.

A39-004 RAAF Airbus A330 MRTT arrived in Perth today

For the non Aerosexuals, MRTT stands for Multi Role Tanker Transport, its basically the RAAF's BP/Caltex of the skies
These Air frames start in France as new, head over to Spain for a bit, then down to Brisbane, where Qantas Defense services convert them to an Air to Air refueling craft

Saw the 20 odd PC-9 formation low over Mt Hawthorn today 16:10

Members of Number 2 Flying Training School, RAAF Base Pearce, will perform a ‘Thunderbird’ formation flypast with 22 PC-9/A Pilatus trainer aircraft.
The flypast will occur in a flight path that connects Rottnest Island, Fremantle and Perth City on Wednesday 5 September 2012. The aircraft will pass over Rottnest Island at approx 3.54pm, Fremantle at approx 3.57pm and Perth City at approx 4.00pm.
The ‘Thunderbird’ formation is performed as a salute to four Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and thirteen Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) students of number 228 pilots’ course who graduate as military aviators in a ceremony to be held on Thursday, 6 September 2012 at RAAF Base Pearce after an intensive 38 week course.
This is also an important training activity for student pilots at 2FTS. Experience in formation flying is a critical component of their development as military aviators.
Initially the aircraft will form-up west of Gin Gin, heading south-west to Rottnest Island, turning easterly to pass over Fremantle and then following the Swan River to Perth City flying immediately south of the city centre. The formation will return to Pearce via Upper Swan.

Could someone tell me what this is.We were hiking through Yanchep national park.And the aircrafft was flying over east to west all day.Im taking it was from Pearce?It had a small rocket shaped object being towed behind .

It is the Fugro survey aircraft VH-WGT I think it is.
