Traffic on 135.35

Post by w0mbat »

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has any idea who is using 135.35 every now and then?
Maybe some chatter 1 -2 a day. Have not heard anything to indicate the users.

Thanks

it may, or may not, be people who failed to dial up 135.25... what callsign were they beginning/ending their transmitions with (Perth Radar, Perth something, Melbourne something, flightwatch)?

eg: "Perth Radar, Alpha Uniform Charlie (or other callsign) ..." or "Melbourne Centre, Alpha Uniform Charlie (or other callsign) ... "

Just did a quick search and found only one registration for that frequency in Australia, that being the Department of Defence, namely the HMAS Albatross tower in Nowra. Possibly you are hearing defence traffic. Just as likely though is as Nafenn suggests, an incorrect dialling of Perth radar 135.25 by local VFR pilots. Let us know what you are hearing though and I will also enter that freq and see what pops up.

There are no call signs. Like it's a monitored channel of something. Just a few lines of chat.
Nothing that so far has been able to tie to an ident.

Cheers

That's the thing with aviation 'company' frequencies - they're often used quite infrequently. My advice: keep an ear on it. Listen for things like callsigns and aircraft types being referred to - these can be the 'clues' in working out who you're listening to.

Ive been listening to this frequency since the thread started and I have heard a few constant transmits, the kind you get when there is an open mic, but so far no voice. I did however discover that this frequency is registered to the RFDS with transmitters in Munster and at Jandakot. It is also registered as an australia wide transmit frequency for the department of defence.

Yes, we have just been assigned it as our new Freq WA wide due to interference (Harmonics) at another base.
Should be rolled out over the next month or so.

Thanks for listening everyone, the traffic on it has really died down so all should be sweet :)
