Hi all,

I noticed VGG is parked outside Griffin Helicopters.
Also there is TVP, is this a media chopper?

Does anyone know which channels use which choppers?
I'm not sure if all channels have aircraft in TV scheme?

Cheers

Carsten

The ABC in Perth has never had a helicopter   .
TVW (Ch 7) has its own aviation arm 'TVW Aviation' and owns VH-TVG (a Squirrel).
NEW (Ch 10) leases a Bell Jetranger under contract from Griffin Helicopters. [EDIT as mentioned below VH-BPB]
STW (Ch 9), also under contract from Griffin Helicopters, originally leased a Bell Jetranger II VH-KKY, and more recently another Jetranger II VH-TVJ up until the WIN take over earlier this year. It was one of the first cost cutting measures. [EDIT as mentioned below... STW now lease a Robinson R44 - VH-JIB]

If you want to find out who owns what aircraft, you can just go to CASA's website and enter the aircraft callsign into the search area for their aircraft registry. The results that you will get back from the search include everything you call possibly want to know about an aircraft. In hindsight, I probaly should have just posted a link to the search page...ohwell, its not that hard to find.

No, because most of them are owned and operated by Devereaux, which is Griffin Helicopters.

Unfortunately Access 31 no longer exists, so alas yet again the ABC is the only chopper-less station (unless you include GWN and WIN, but they get there vision from 7 & 9 respectively).

Afaik, anyone can go in a media chopper as long as the pilot is happy. Most cammos (and some journos) are HUET certified. HUET is compulsory for work over water, which would cover most media work. Even though the ABC does not have a chopper we were all given HUET training in case we hire one or need to work in one elsewhere.

Just looked... mine's expired #-o

SBS don't have a presence in WA, just a sales office. They will come to us, hire a freelancer or send people from the east if they need something filmed.

hehe isn't it nice how we're all supporting you AE, finding other tv stations without choppers so you don't feel as bad...oh well time for another course then :P...I thought HUET was only required for Helicopters...meh who's gonna complain to a free course during work time :D
