They can carry stuff all in bags and cargo, so they'll end up using 737's for it.

I dont think they willuse the 737's on those runs.... apparently they are only Embraer runs

I think you will find that the 190 can carry a good load (pax/cargo)

Numloxx dont understand your comment.....

Though the EMB decision wasn't wise, either 737-600's or turboprops

The amount of cargo and baggage that goes up to Cocos Island on each flight is huge.
Today we sent up 2600kg of cargo, and about the same in baggage, on 2 flights. Not including the weight of the pax either.

Are you sure? The aircraft they use wouldnt have weight restiction imposed....

They would be MZFW, MRPW and MTOW restricted.

MZFW = Max Zero Fuel Weight, weight of the aircraft, crew, pax, bags cargo, catering everything except for fuel.
Each aircraft has its own MZFW limit.

MRMP = (Also MBRW Max Brakes Release Wt) Max Ramp Weight = Weight of everything on the aircraft, as above, plus fuel, just before engine start.

MTOW = Weight of aircraft after start up and taxi to the runway, just before take off.
The 2 variables are Fuel uplift and Fuel Burn. The burn will generally stay the same, but might vary a bit, and they basically take as much fuel as they can before exceeding the Max Ramp, TOW, and Max Landing weights.

MLDW = Weight of the aircraft for landing.

So it's a big juggling act. Each aircraft is different and you need to know all the values to know what the max fuel and payload uplifts are.

Hope this helps.

Wasnt meant, what I mean or should have said is that SAA wouldnt have any issues loading up with full pax / cargo for the JNB - PER route.

It would be well within the MTOW
