THE Qantas plane forced to make an emergency landing yesterday after a massive hole tore through its side had been plagued by a history of corrosion.

Media is full of speculation and sensationalism when it comes to incidences like this. Whatever the reason for the incident, I applaud the flight crew for their handling and managing to land the aircraft safely.

I hate the media... especially Perthnow
"The aircraft are getting a bit old and the engineers have been on strike so they might be flying with lower maintenance standards," one insider said.
An insider told you this?!!? My dog could have told me that.

Where are the FACTS - what happened to NEWS reporting agencies giving us FACTS??

I agree with you on where is a real news reporter. all news sources are unreliable in acurate reports.

# Latest report by Air Saftey Investigators prelimery report has discovered one oxygen cylinder is missing, not yet detirmined if that was the cause, Qantas reports they are checking every B747 Oxygen cylinders, etc. 1840
