I'm about to fall over :!:

PS, stop PMing me about my spelling, Wessex is with a capital W.

The contrail was left by an Air Mauritius Airbus 340-300 Rego 3B-NAV flying from Melbourne to Mauritius.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on aircraft. How are these formed and are they controlled by the pilot?
Just wondering if they can let these go when there is heavy airtraffic around to make plane more visible??

ClamSmacker it is not something that can be controlled.
Contrails or vapor trails are condensation trails and artificial cirrus clouds made by the exhaust of aircraft engines or wingtip vortices which precipitate a stream of tiny ice crystals in moist, frigid upper air. Being composed of water, the visible white streams are not, in and of themselves, air pollution
