Student, teacher escape crash landing
8th October 2007, 13:15 WST
A Cessna 172 Cardinal crash-landed at Jandakot Airport just before lunchtime after the plane’s landing gear apparently failed.
A student and instructor aboard the Air Australia International flying school plane, which landed on its belly, were not injured.
Jandakot Airport operations manager Darryl Evans said the airport activated its emergency procedures. A Royal Flying Doctor Service plane that had been about to take off stopped to assist the two people until ambulance officers arrived. Mr Evans said they were checked at the scene but did not need further treatment.
He said crash-landings happened a few times a year at Jandakot but would not provide detailed statistics.
Air Australia International refused to comment on the incident.

"belly up" is another term that bugs me cos for mine that means the bugger is upside down...which this certainly wasnt.
as for old pilots sayings... my faves are:
"The most useless things to a pilot are the altitude above and the runway behind"
"The only time you have too much fuel is when you are on fire"
"Never let an aircraft take you somewhere your brain didn't get to five minutes earlier"
I could go on but i wont
