I used my VX-3R hand-held to and from Adelaide last week (receive only!) No eyebrows were raised. Didn't hear much either.

Further to this, it was part of the Qantas "safety briefing" on my PER-MEL flight the other day. "Electronic entertainment devices" can be used but "radio transmitters of any kind including mobile phones are not permitted to be used on this aircraft" was (from memory) the exact words used ;)

...you listened to the safety briefing??...and can actually remember it...hehe ok I admit I used to be able to do the whole thing but then I was flying home every half term and end of term break!
