What are you actually doubting ?

goes out about 10 Klms ?

Repeaters ?

i can receive it here in Bunbury around 50 Klms away with no 'repeaters' on my Discone, if you can't then you need a better antenna or something.

There is an entry on the ACMA register for the Busselton weather on 128.05 - it's a 4-watt transmitter.

http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/site_ ... _ID=136174

If you look at a map you'll see that a direct line between Busselton and Bunbury goes mostly over water - ideal conditions to carry a signal. Combine this with location of the transmitting antenna (probably up a pole) and your external discone and yes, you'll pick up the signal in Bunbury for sure.

ACMA Website shows the date approved as 18th Sept 06 but in my original posting i could hear it in Bunbury on the 7th August 06.
So i wonder why was it on air before being approved ?

It could have been 'test transmissions' prior to commissioning, or ACMA might have just been taking a while to process the paperwork and had given a verbal approval to start using it.
