Hi Rob, I use PlanePlotter but I don't have any special chart for the Perth area. What's wrong with those provided by the program?

The only chart that came with it is a low res raster pic of the world called "Globe". By the time you zoom in on the Perth area it's just a few magnified pixels. Vector maps would be better.
If I click on the "Map" button ("Download Map"), nothing happens

oh Ok. I am assuming you are just using the 21 day trial period at the moment. When registered clicking the MAP button downloads google maps which can then be saved in 10 quick chart locations behind icons on the icon bar at the top of screen.

At the time of writing this there were no flights showing in Perth so I grabbed this to give you an idea what it looks like.

Yep, trialling.. this is my first opportunity to decode ADS-B. When I click the map button, I noticed the status bar says "Downloading map image" but nothing downloads. No errors. You can get OSM maps as well by using a qualifier key (Alt, shift etc) Might have to make my own. There's some information in the help file how to make raster charts

You may also want to check out Virtual Radar Server - which plots ADS-B data on Google maps for you, and can be set up to show silhouettes and airline logos for the planes

Thanks Matt. Google doesn't do it for me. I worked out how to use captured OSM maps though. Hopefully some time the PP people will implement local OSM databases. It can't be too difficult. I have two Android apps that use local OSM.
