A light aircraft attempting to land at Jandakot Airport can not get his landing gear down. Has about 15 minutes of fuel left and 3 people on board. Its probably too late but does anyone know an emergency frequency for Jandakot? Will let you know what happens.

There is a friend of mine who is a controller at Jandakot and this is what he had to say;

ZLE, C550, returned from Albany with a gear indication problem. He had to burn off fuel prior to landing because he had planned airwork at Albany which he hadn't commenced. He made some flypasts at Jandakot so the engineers could check that the gear was down. He landed safely.

Was talking about this at the meetup this evening,

was mentioned that the plane could not turn its throttle off or similar so it couldn't slow down

Confirmed mate - yeah guy couldn't "close" the throttle, aparantly it got jammed - so he ended up orbiting Jandakot for what was reported to be 20 minutes, while a crap load of FESA trucks and SJA where on standby on the side of Runway 24R.

So great result by the pilot... 8)

Mr G,

I also noticed that it was the new Cirus that Royal Aero Club are trying to get people to fly. I think allot of people will put in on the back burner now.
