THE head of West Australia's fire and emergency services authority (FESA) has been sacked after a scathing report by former Australia Federal Police boss Mick Keelty into February's Perth Hills bushfire.

Re: News: WA fire boxx Jo Harrison-Ward sacked
I've scanned the first chapter of the report and the recommendations seem to reflect some of the findings of previous inquiries in other states.
Having trouble wording this but I'm hoping that the energy and willpower to make things better on behalf of the government and its agencies doesn't stop at just sacking people, but goes a long way towards those recommendations. Also hoping that its bipartisan and the government and opposition can put aside their differences and resist trying to turn this into a political game.

The inquiry report makes for an interesting read. I reckon we'll see the end of FESA in it's current form.
Thumbing through the FESA submission... not easy going, it's a pretty dry and dense tome!

is interesting for us, talks a bit about FESA's radio systems.

News reports say she hasn't been sacked... just stood down.
Others say she has resigned...
