Really? I thought it would be pretty obvious, but anyway....
Yes - the road traffic act explicitly states that emergency vehicles and vehicles carrying camera crews filming the force are exempt from the road rules.
The police cars leave a trail of breadcrumbs that the camera crew can follow.
