quick question

is it legal to try to attempt to stop a police chase if going above highway limits?

are you asking if it is illegal to get in the way of the police while they are doing their job?

if so, yeah, it is.

it would depend highly on the situation though - however, why would you want to get in the way of a maniac who's trying to outrun the police? do you have a death wish?

what i was meaning if there was a police chase behind you can you (non police officer) could you try interveen to stop the criminal?

Of course not, you are hindering a Police Officer in his duty.

If you did it you would also be branded a lunatic yourself.

If you swerved to make the offending vehicle not be able to pass, you would also be liable to be charged with the appropriate dangerous driving or similar.

Though your heart is in the right place mate, best to leave it to the Police. There are too many variables to take into count, you will open yourself up to litigation, criminal charges, endangering yourself, the person who the police are chasing, also the police officers themselves and worse still the public.
