ACMA closures

Post by robbage »

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/st ... 82,00.html (The Australian)

"The federal Government has ordered the closure of Australian Communications & Media Authority offices in Perth and Adelaide, with the expected loss of 13 jobs."
In other news, Perth still has a field office.

Really? I thought that's what they were closing here and in SA? Both states lost the public-facing stuff a while back...

Personally, I don't see how it makes any operational sense to have offices in Qld, NSW, ACT and Vic only. Why not shut NSW and keep WA or SA open? Why not shut Vic and keep Tas?

*mutter mutter* ... :?

I think he was referring to us as the Perth field office.
Am I correct?

They're closing the Perth field office so we still have one (for a while)
Sorry, I posted that like I would have on a certain other site where it would have made more sense.
Carry on!

Might as well offer complete spectrum anarchy. The level of support given by ACMA lately leaves a lot to be desired. I can quote several times in recent years where Federal MP's had to become involved before some one from ACMA would investigate interference. Not blaming ACMA but the government that reduces staff to the point where anyone can do what they feel like on air (just listen to the childrens band in the cities and major towns) with no chance of action being taken against them. There used to be remote monitoring sites around the state but they have now all gone. My 2 cents only......
