AFP Protective Service Pay & Conditions

Post by sentry1 »

Hi Guys

I am interested in joining the AFP Protective Service or Community Policing in Canberra. A Protective Service Officer (PSO)I know told me that PSO's can earn pretty much the same $ as a General Duties Officer, circa $80,000-90,000 per annum when penalties etc are included. Does anyone in the job know if there is any truth to this given that the starting salary is around $57K pa base? Given I've got a mortgage and young family, the dollar factor is an important consideration in deciding to proceed or not. :?

Probably not the right place to be asking those sort of questions. Call the AFP recruiting people and ask them personally. Explain your situation. Canberra is expensive to live in and if you need a certain minimum salary then they will be able to answer the questions you have.

In fact I'd highly doubt that anyone here can assist you with salary arrangements. You'll need to do your research within the commonwealth department, not on a public Western Australian forum.

Sorry....
