I've just had a look at CNN and BBC for their take on it. I hope you guys get a smile out of what I've found.

According to CNN, the "country's Fire Protection Authority" is on the case, "smoke from the fires in NSW drifted over Sydney" prompting one "Victorian resident to look at the blackening sky and flee" and all this at the same time as "60% of Queensland is flooded". I'm not sure they even know where Austria, sorry Australia, is.

The BBC was much better, only finding "30,000 ha of the Australian bush" had burnt.

Also mentioned WA police victim ID unit. I'd expect the WA firies will be IMTs. Without your own equipment and in totally different country with totally different weather, sending fire crews might be worth it.

NSW Update:

Fire of major concern at Peats Ridge-Southerly change arrived and blowing fire back away from containment lines =D> Suspect to face court tomorrow.

No other properties threatened at this stage :D

i believe the firies would be FRS. with our expected temps for the week i think they might wanna keep our BFS guys here, and i doubt if bosses would let their BFS vollies go.

EDIT:

Nine News confirmed that one of the fatalities was a man confined to a motorised wheelchair.

when i heard this my heard sank. i feel so sorry for the people who have perished

I don't know how many WARSUG members are religious, I'm certainly not. But times like this call for it.

Id like to extend my thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims of all the fires raging throughout the country. I can't help but imagine what it feels like to lose your family home.

And to the CFA firies, GOD BLESS YOU, YOU ARE SAINTS

Chris media reports this morning said we are sending "24 specialised fire fighters" from the forrestry department <direct quote> so im guessing DEC maybe those that havent been called should expect a call shortly.

A FESA representaive stated they are having a conference call today to see what other resources we may need to send keeping in mind the weather we are going to have at this week.
