I worry about these sites and that people rely on them, as they pull information from publically available websites rather than through a direct relationship with the fire authority.
Re: Fires in Vic, SA and NSW Feb 09
Heavens above, 76 people dead.

What about you Radiotech? How are you going over there?

I agree!!!! If you rely on these sort of sites you are asking for trouble!Fastlane wrote:I worry about these sites and that people rely on them, as they pull information from publically available websites rather than through a direct relationship with the fire authority.

I know that Mount Barker VFRS is setting up some donation tins to put around town. Might be worth a shot for ALL VFRS/BFS/VES/VFS Brigades to do the same.treeny wrote:homes up to 650. 1 firefighter has burns to 50% of his body. donations can be made via the red cross

The nearest fire front is about 90 minutes away, practically on the other side of the city.dlcat1 wrote:What about you Radiotech? How are you going over there?

I said earlier that the person detained in relation to the NSW Peats Ridge fire was released. He has now been arrested and charged.

Just seeing those cars all burnt out on the main road in king lake makes you wonder how high the death toll will go, multiple mvas with just sheer desperation to get out.

He was an Icon on TV in Victoria. Many people over the age of 25 would remember him well.Fastlane wrote:Not wanting to sound harsh, but there are another 82 confirmed dead that are no less important than him and his wife..Smithy wrote:ch 9 news reporter Brian Naylor and his wife have been confirmed dead

He is no more important than the others who have tragicly lost their lives but most Victorians will have known him. Prehaps that may influence more of the public to assist those who have lost everything.
