Neighbours

Well at the moment my elderly neighbour appears to be burning off some bush in her backyard.
There is definitely a fire, I was a nosey neighbour a peaked through a crack in the fence.

All seems be under control, but I highly doubt she has a permit.

Should I just leave it be, or call a ranger or similar?

I thought it was no burning at all? It's really windy at my place, if you live near bush I would call fire brigade to deal with her.

Its still burning, been going for while now.

Its quite windy here, but not outstandingly.

I live quite near a large body of scrub, Canning River Reserve, but theres no chance the would spread there.
There are lots of trees in both her and our gardens.

I would be worried that embers flying in the wind might start a fire somewhere.

Go have a word with her - if you call the firies, they'll do the same thing (and put it out). Sometimes better for neighbour relations if you do that yourself first.

Of course if she refuses and you then call the firies she'll be cranky, but she shouldn't have a fire burning at this time of year!

You can also tell her there's big fines for burning off during prohibited burning periods and that it's cheaper for her to extinguish the fire.

And for what it's worth - well done for caring enough to even ask the question and not think "Pfft, not my problem!" ;)
