QM's are effectively the most powerful people in a unit. While you're in their Quey the QM is God. The amount of times I told the Adj and CSM goodbye while i was working was huge. Plus everyone therefore had to be nice to you especially if they wanted the next best gear (best gear was pilfered of course by the QM ). Oh and not always, when I became a CUO - Can't understand orders - Cadet under officer I remained Quey and the senior Platoon Sergeant was promoted to SSGT.

i was in SJA cadetes in New Zealand b4 i moved to Merredin, which was a pain, Drill was different.


I remember we did competitions, where they just called out the Flanks and you had to turn the right way, eg Turn to the left in files, TURN!, if you were facing the retire ment you did a right turn lol, got mosty people put, i always managed to be the last person standing, and the drill master always tried to speed things up to try get me to fall lol

They used to make us stand at Right Dress while they inspected the Flanks, man that hurt your arm, almost ready to fall off

ahhhh the fronts and flanks game!!!! Loved it! Good way to get people ready for parades while having fun in the process! We used to make people fall out and form a second platoon so they still got the benefit of doing the drill.
