Learners Permit

Post by lytec »

hi all.Thought I would ask here as I could not find the info on the net.I have got my motorcycle learners. My wife took my car the other day and I needed to get to the bank so I jumped on the bike and went to the bank.No problems as I can ride just have not sat my practical test yet.The only problem is that a friend said I was driving without a license and that I would lose my license.I thought it might just have been a fine if I got caught. Can anyone help please.Lots of police and smart people read this so maybe you can help me out.

You answered your own question. You haven't passed your practical assessment therefore you don't have a licence! A Learners Permit is just that - a permit to learn - it's not a licence!

When my brother was in his teens, he was caught riding a bike without a license and was fined and banned from obtaining a license for 3 months.(He did not have one to loose).

Whether its only a fine or not, its not worth the risk.

I believe it is now considered riding without a license. I think it used to be "riding out of class" which only carried a fine. Or I may be completely wrong.

Dont do it though... unless you want to end up another statistic

3 weeks ago, someone on a car cruise got caught driving without a supervisor on their Learner's permit... "contravening learners permit" and he was told he couldn't drive any futher. Didn't even receive a fine (at the time) - not sure of the further consequences.

Not sure if it's the same on the bike, but one would think it's the same?
