Hi guys :)

Just wondering, is it an advantage or more of a disadvantage for good reception living up in the hills?

I used to think it was better but now Im confused, any help appreciated.

Thanks :?

It would be a advantage to you if you lived on a hill,
but certainly not under (or at a base of) a hill.

I know someone that gets all the analogue police VKC channels just becuase they live on a high hill in victoria.

Another way to look at it is,
Where else would you put a repeater if it wasnt on a hill???

Thanks for clearing that up Michael. :)

I live at the top of a hill, its kind of amongst a few other hills too tho but its clear to the coastline on the south-west side. Towards the North and South-East there are other hills but most channels have good reception.

Yep, the clear line of sight would mean that the frequency waves wouldn have anything interfering with them from the time it leaves the tower until it reaches the scanner, it would make the channels sound clearer and would give you a better chance of picking up simplex (line of sight) frequencies.
