Back when I was in my teens, I would've paid big bucks for this design!

Miklos,

That's a very bright yellow page you've got there :-)

Of course, you're only providing information on this "bug" for general interest's sake aren't you... Actually constructing one to listen in to phone calls might land you in hot water with the police if you were found out. There's this thing called the Telecommunications Interception Act which might apply if you were actually using one of these gadgets. I'm no lawyer (thank god!!) but discretion might be best :-)

It's all about who fits the bug isn't it? It's like high powered motor cars, if someone does 250km/h, can't stop in time and kills some poor bastard whilst doing so, will the car makers be held accountable? No, we blame the nut behind the wheel.

This bug's design is so simple, you could almost make it by accident.

Absolutely. The design of the bug and the technology isn't the issue, it's what people choose to do with it.

I'm sure you could use that design to make a "baby monitor" or something similar.

However it's always useful to know just what the law says you can and can't do. As this is a site that promotes responsible scanner use, it's always safest to mention something that could potentially land someone in trouble for using the wrong way :-)
