IRC chat dead?

Post by JhG123 »

Hello, saw in one of the Police threads that there was an IRC room on the AustNet server, however I've never seen anyone on there. Has it been abandoned, if so is there any other method of real-time communication? Thanks.

Old hat now I'd say. Not many people around here these days, popular in thing is Discord. Maybe setup a channel there and see if anyone wants to join.
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

I spent many, many an hour wasting time on IRC back in the day :)

Happy to pick things up on Discord if there's interest, I don't know a lot about it though.

I'd be more than happy if there was a Discord server, but it probably wouldn't appeal to many people who don't use Discord already.

I see there is a WARSUG Zello channel......”Perth WARSUG chit chat (Perth Fire and Rescue)” but it only seems to have a handful of subscribers.
Is it deemed a legitimate WARSUG offshoot??

I am a fan of Zello. No it’s not radio, we all know that, but it’s a very reliable and capable platform and has some very good scanner feeds from various parts of the globe.

Just look at how quickly “Network Radios” has taken off on Zello!

+1 on Zello, sadly it's a closed-source application - I'd like to see it become a bit more open for most uses.
