This group have some interesting radio related stuff in their web store. I haven't used them at all but it beats trying to import stuff from the states or convince Dick Smith to stock these things again.

Hi All,

I'm Brian from Emcom Communications and a new member here. I have been floating around the different topics answering questions here and there this morning and came across this one.

I should point out I am not on the group to push my business. Where you choose to do business is up to you but if I can help you out I would be more than happy to. My main interest in the group is to spread the word and knowledge of radio and scanning. I have worked in the radio industry for the past 10 years or so and worked with a lot of trunking in that time so I have a great base knowledge of trunking and other PMR stuff.

If anyone has any questions they want to ask feel free and I'll answer what I can.

As for Emcom Communications, we strive to offer customer service, something which some others are tending to drop these days. Just because we are based in Sydney doesn't mean we can source and ship a product for you and in the days of mobile phone plans and the internet it doesn't cost a fortune to communicate. We have a great selection of brands and products to look at and hopefully the price is pleasing as well.

I bet that most of these are sold to couriers and plumbers and spend their whole life on channel 1. Such a waste

Some of the radios we have are just chock full of features. There are also lower versions than this (1, 2, 4 channel jobs) but we find that most people in Australia (myself included), like a big feature packed and big channel radio.

It's a little more expensive than most other CB radios, but for the die hard Motorola fan this is the ultimate UHF CB.

I was speaking to one of the guys at Maxon a while ago and he says this is why they have trouble surviving in the Australian market. Everyone wants a radio with everything in it and enough channels to listen to the entire band, even when they don't need that many. The new Taits are also a good example. They have 1500 channels in them. I have been speaking to Tait in the last couple of weeks and we look like we should be signing the papers with them shortly. This will mean we can also offer their full range of equipment including the new Apco 25 transceivers (also with 1500 channels).
