Can't view the current pursuits thread!

Post by yorky »

I've just in the last day or two not been able to view http://warsug.info/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=13415 , the current pursuits thread? Comes up 'No posts exist for this topic'. Anyone else in the same boat or just me? Seems like people are responding in it as I keep getting the emails!

Only guess is the thread is just too long?

(starting a thread from a convo here: http://warsug.info/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=13419#13419 )

That was my guess. I think it's fixed now. Please let me know if that's not the case :-)

I've also experienced that some problem a couple of times in the week.

Is it worth starting up a pursuits mk2 thread as the original one has over 400 postings now?

Not being the most technical minded fella in the world can I put an idea forward as to why it happens.

Could, and I stress could, it be that due to some people (me included) having pics in their signatures and then changing/deleting them for whatever reasons, would alter the length of the thread.

So it would click over to the next page, couple of sigs are changed/deleted and the thread adjusts but leaves it open at the original page number until it catches up?

Did I explain that right???? Am I on the right track ???? OR like the NRL trophy am I on the wrong plane!

I was there when they flicked the switch

Hmm. Interesting thought but I don't think so as the pages are dynamically generated from both the post and sig data.

I'm not sure why the weirdness happened but I'm quite happy to see it doesn't appear to have happened again :smt081

It seems as though it's not as if you can't get to the last page, there simply isn't enough posts yet to push the thread onto that page. Time to file a bug report :-)

Seems that it's a bug in phpbb (the forum software). Lots of people have had the same problem, but no resolution yet.

Still looking... :smt065

Ok. I've run a clean on the database.

As I understand it when we delete some posts it can get mixed up with posts from spammers who's accounts have been deleted. This seems to confuse phpbb. Hopefully (at the risk of repeating myself  ) it won't happen again.

If you enter a thread on the last page and it gives the "no posts found" error, just click on the page previous and all should be ok. (i.e. if the thread shows 7 pages but the 7th doesn't work, the conversation should be on page 6)

I don't want this problem happening again so if people could email or PM me if they notice it in other threads again and I'll look into it futher.

Cheers,
Gavin.
