channel 40 interference in car

Post by maximus »

Recently my car (2005 Subaru Forester) started to interfere with channel 40 CB and only that channel. I have tested 3 handheld UHFs in the car and all of them are affected. My car is modified however the mods have been in place for years without any problems with UHFs
Car mods include upgraded amp and subwoofer. I pulled the fuse on the stereo but interference still occurs.
I have engine mods (turbo,ECU,exhaust) but they have been there since 2006.
I do not run any other electronic device like GPS or radar detector.
any ideas how to find what is causing this?

Are you able to exit the car while its running slowly with one of the handhelds and does the interference go away as soon as you get out or further away from the car?

I get a similar thing at my office, a lot of CB channels on our handhelds just get static as I walk around and we have to enable CTCSS but that's a different story.

yes the interference is weak , if I stand at the rear of the car or 1 metre away it is fine.
But it has to be that it is worst at the front seats

I know this isn't really going to tell you much, but if you set the CB to a CTCSS code does the interference go away?
