Main Roads WA Traffic Escorts

Main Roads WA have taken over the oversize escort function from WAPOL. Saw one of the new cars today. They'r marked up like Transport Inspector vehicles but with "Traffic Escort" written on the sides and red and blue lights. Look really good.

Traffic Escort TE marked Nissan 4WDs are still being used at this time as well as other TE & GD cars when needed haven't seem any of the MR units on the run yet so must be getting ready to roll them out be interesting they run out of TE cars as it is because of the amount of loads going out.

Apparently WAPOL doesnt want to give up the function cos it makes so much $$$$$.
Main Roads traffic escorts being trained up at the moment by the manager of the WAPOL traffic escorts section. Not sure when the changeover will be complete but will be interesting to see how the public interact with the new 'non-police' looking escort vehicles.

Not the only non-emergency vehicles to have red and blues.
The WAPOL traffic escort vehicles were not emergency vehicles. Customs and border protection vehicles are not emergency vehicles. PTA delta vehicles (which have red lights) are not emergency vehicles.
Apparently the WAPOL traffic escorts refused to come accross to Main Roads unless they got to keep their red and blue lights (there was talk of them using magenta).
Doesnt look like this particular vehicle has grill lights or wig-wags though....

You never know, the spot lights could have wig wag's like a lot of the private Pilot vehicles do (although maybe not since the light bar is active, they might forgo that option since the light bar has white heads in the middle).

Ok out of shear luck one of my old acquaintances is with the new group and came past today, he is getting the siren installed shortly and already has both front and rear grill lights. Forgot to ask if the spots/headlights flash though.
