New streaming scanner..?

Post by vk6hgr »

Hi Folks.

I have some server capacity left over here and am thinking about hosting a second streaming scanner.

What would we be interested in hearing? I'm thinking one of:

* Auxiliary FESA channels - water bombers, BFS command channels etc
* Public transport - trains, busses

What think we?

It is possible to get a FESA paging decoder like the SAGRN network? Or is that too much to ask for?

Cheers

FESA paging goes over a public paging network. The Telecommunications Act and intercept laws and all that nasty stuff comes into play there :(

The big problem with FESA simplex and command channels are that there are many of them and they only transmit in a local area. Unlike 6AR/6IP there is no one channel that can be "set and forget".

Thanks auntys_eyes I totally appreciate and expected the comment with the Simplex channels and the nature of Simplex channels. The question was asked and I thought I would put it out there if there was an opportunity to monitor. Any comments about DEC channels then? Is this possible?

[humor on]
Easy. Configure your voice recognition software to detect someone saying 8 8, ( though I think detecting 3rd or higher alarm would be more beneficial) activate your second scanner, filtering out everything except communication between 6AR/IP and appliances involved with the incident. Somehow, I think dealing with the static for the voice recognition will be the easy bit.
[Humor off]
What really worries me is that I actually thought this through....
