I had a little search on the PC Guru's website and found something interesting in their July 20, 2006 newsletter.

We were very careful to adhere to all the laws when designing the signage as we wanted them to resemble a Police Car - but we certainly didn't want to be accused of "passing-off". I think we did a great job. They're eye-catching and have a certain tongue-in-cheek look about them.

In the past, Coppers have stared at the cars, but have never said a thing.

Until last week.

I was denied the number plate "IMACOP" for my AU Falcon, as it "has negative connotation". I don't see why they should be able to get away with it.

ofcourse they arn't going to agree to "imacop"

try throwing some number in there like 1mac0p so you look like one of those twats with the stupid number plates ie "domin8" or "4d00rex" (4 door "rex") then they wont mind.

And the bright yellow Hyundai Excel that was getting around Freo a few years back,
with a huge Marlows rice wing, cheap Marlows spoiler kit and 14" mags,
Marlows exhaust tip, and factory standard 1-foot ride height.
I thought it was a girls car, saw the owner at Freo TAFE one day, was a guy!
Had the number plate "xlr8" ......... HAHAhahaha!

I know they won't let you have "6UL-DV8" as a plate.

You guys wil soon see high visiblity markings on the Australian Federal Police Protective Service vehicles travelling around Perth.

They have just gone over to red Fords and Holdens and will have Police checkers on the door and Australian Federal Police branded across the whole vehicle in reflective markings.

They will Also have the AFP badge on the bonnet and checkers on the bumper bar, along with the red/blue lights.

Before you ask, these vehicles are Police vehicles operated by the Australian Federal Police and therefore are marked as such. They are not driven by Police Officers so they cant evoke 305 of the RTA at this stage (lights and sirens).

Cheers

Howdy dazla,

The APS cars currently look great with the grey and white chequeres.

I saw that newish red BF out in Belmont last week and it still has the grey and white markings, saying that I saw a white AFP fully marked police-spec VE on Tuesday with the markings you mentioned and the AFP light-bar.

Have you seen any more red Falcons or Commodores of late??

PC Guru.... When time permits I'll grab and pic, write a letter and send it to the TEGS boss.
And the bright yellow Hyundai Excel that was getting around Freo a few years back,

If you click on the link under 'continued', the Police have already spoken to them about their PC Guru cars.

Seriously, if it wasn't legal they wouldn't be on the road (especially considering these cars have been about for at least a year now).

Some people have way too much time on their hands....
