I thought she was joking, but this lady isn't a VFAS member, but a good friend - and she said it wasn't a joke, so not sure what or who they were evacuating ??? I have no idea - so its good to have "contacts" but - makes you hunger for more info - which is scarce at the moment...jmmw wrote:wow thats pretty intense!

Garden Island often gets evacuated due to high winds/storms etc. Happens quite frequently as the bridge that runs over to the island is quite dangerous to navigate in those conditions.gkoutlis wrote:I just got information from a fellow SJA person - that Garden Island is actually being evacuated... - As a result of this incoming severe storm, not sure if anyone else is able to verify this....
Sounds interesting, the storm front is fast approaching the metro coast.
They often send people home early in cases like this, especially persons who have family/kids on the mainland in case the bridge isn't reopened for some time.
It also means a day off work for those supposed to be coming on shift

This is West of Cocos Islands.. We dont often see a Tropical Low this far south.. Don't think its going to cause a road problem in Perth, GK!
