I live at the top of a hill, its kind of amongst a few other hills too tho but its clear to the coastline on the south-west side. Towards the North and South-East there are other hills but most channels have good reception.
Yep, the clear line of sight would mean that the frequency waves wouldn have anything interfering with them from the time it leaves the tower until it reaches the scanner, it would make the channels sound clearer and would give you a better chance of picking up simplex (line of sight) frequencies.
