Motorola GP339

G'day
I've been attempting to program a Motorola GP339 handheld. I have the right software and a data cable but can't seem to get the radio to appear in "My Computer" when plugged in with a USB data cable. I'm wondering if this is a driver issue? I have tried updating the driver and windows reports it as "Prolific USB to Serial" in the device manager. Anyone out there able to point me in the right direction??? I've tried this connection with both radio on and off with no joy!
