Starting out help

Post by stakes48 »

I wish to buy a radio scanner. Can anyone give me some guide on what I should look for first for a relatively cheap scanner. The main idea is to receive the Police channels but I read that they have now gone to digital but im not too sure what that means :?

If anyone out there can help me and give me some guidance on where to go and what to buy, that would be great.
Cheers guys!

Hi, Police being digital encrypted mean no scanner can listen in!
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

Only time you can listern to Perth police seems to be new years eve and sky show. And thats for those events only. Not your general suberban stuff. And a digital scanner will cost you $700 up.If you live on the outskirts of Perth you may be able to pick up country police. But i hear there going digital also. You can get a handheld uniden bearcat from dick smith and still listern to FESA & Train gaurds. You can also still get water police.ENJOY
