I got a Scan Ducky for my 93XLT, I'm not convinced it's significantly better than the ducky it comes with (in my location at any rate).Fitzyyy wrote:

The MobileOne SCBase antenna on the other hand is excellent, but it's designed for base station use, not portable.

Ok so apparently by law they have to provide spare parts for 7 years. Long story short, someone in the industry i know made a call to uniden and it's $35 to get a replacement antenna from uniden, but i made my own bnc uhf antenna with the soldering iron anyway. I used a male bnc to female rca adaptor ($3) and an old small 3db uhf cb antenna (477mhz) with a standard UHF 5/16" thread i have had lying around for years. I simply snipped the antenna where it joined the 5/16" thread at the bottom and disgarded the thread, then shoved & jammed the antenna into the female rca socket of the adaptor and soldered it in good, making sure it sat as vertical as i could get it. I then added some spare heatshrink and it was done! To be honest i used 2x bnc-rca adaptors because i cooked the first one and melted it too much . I've tested it and it brings in UHF signals extremely well (for this scanner). Here's some pics:

cool! Good work, and glad that you were able to sort something out and came back and shared it with the board.
