How to hear radio signals?

What scanner to buy? What's the best antenna to use? Programming? Ask here!

I doubt it. Do the batteries charge in the radio or do you have to take them out and use an external charger? You could try inserting some alkaline batteries and see how the radio performs.

I've tried two lots of rechargables, charged externally, also tried alkalines (all new). Filing a warranty claim with the seller as I believe the unit is faulty.

Sorry , I assumed you bought it second hand :-) When it turns itself off, are you sure it isn't the Auto Power Off?

It is, what I meant was an eBay dispute. It makes a strange buzz noise and the screen goes blank after just a few seconds. Something's definitely not right. I'd gladly call you up and show you over the phone if you think it could be something else...

If the batteries you are using are good then I think you are right. Sounds like it's faulty. Good luck sorting it out. I refuse to use ebay.

Yea, i agree. i have a '76 Uniden Bearcat UBC60XLT. very VERY old, but it works well. 8 band and 10 channel, it works fine.
