Hello all,
Just got myself a Uniden 93XLT scanner and am based in the High Wycombe area.
I rent this house so I can't go putting up any perminant type antennas or drilling holes etc.
I've looked at the "Mobile One" models that DSE sell (Scantenna, Bandspanner etc) but I'd love some feedback in general from others who have either used these, or can recommend something else.
I do not necessarily need to have a 'mobile' antenna, but a base antenna which is not too over priced and easy to mount on the back patio would also suffice.
The main areas I listen to are aviation, VHF-LO (~80mhz), VHF-HI (~160mhz) and UHF (400-500mhz) so it would need to be something that is fairly broad band.
Even if I need to order from over seas, interstate etc - I'd just love to know what sort of antennas people are fans of and how well they perform!
Thanks
Bonez

I've got a Bandspanner, works very well across the board. I'm sure that some stuff may be picked up better with a more specialised type but for me it does the job.

I use the Bandspanner on my car and the SCBASE at home on the roof. If you've got a big pole or space at the top of your tv antenna you can mount on that.

You can't go too far wrong with a discone. They have been around for years and was probably the most popular type of antenna for scanners years ago. Still are very popular. I have heard good comments about the Diamond D130J

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those who do not.

I've got the SCBASE at home - I just have it hanging from a tree outside, there's a loop at the top of it which makes it very easy to hang it like that.
