Help a dumbo ???

Post by Matt. »

Hi all in Perth for the Red Bull Air Race , have programed up the Uniden IC-R10 with 78.050 and 78.1250 was hoping to get fire services, coming through the computer crystal but hand held is crap!

Is it me , should it be another mode?

I have

MODE/COMMON USAGE
AM amateur, aviation, broadcasting
FM amateur, utility
WFM TV broadcasting, FM broadcasting
USB, LSB commercial, amateur, short wave radio
CW commercial, amateur

to choose from??

Thanks Matt

Are you using an external antenna or inside on the handheld? If you are inside there's very little chance of getting much.

Which area are you in? You could try one of the new active channels, 164.00 (Canning Mills, same as 78.100 try 78.100 as well).

EDIT: As to which mode I'm not sure.

EDIT2: Also try 164.275

Ok, like I said try the other frequencies.

Though I'd imagine 78.050 would be best.

Matt,

Are you a ham radio operator as well by any chance? If so, then sing out and we'll add all the local 2m / 70cm repeaters to your list as well :P
