Ok, let's say i buy a great expensive antenna and then connect it to my scanner using cheap copper wire. Would the different resistance in the cabling decrease my performance,
Just wondering, because i just stuck about 15 meters of bare wire outside the bathroom window and then used a VGA cable to get the signal where i wanted it to plug it into my scanner and hear it etc. etc.

Re: Natural Wire Resistance
I'd say more an impedance problem than resistance, but much the muchness - shell out for the coax cablespartacus wrote:Ok, let's say i buy a great expensive antenna and then connect it to my scanner using cheap copper wire. Would the different resistance in the cabling decrease my performance,

it's just for this week, i'm trying out some new positions to get the redbull planes. I've got enough shielded cable for my original position but as i'm southside, i've had to move everything from the south side to the north side of the house.
PS It works fine, a little bit of background crackle but pretty good.
Thanks anyway vk6hgr
