Good Receiver Unit (Not reviews)

I've been running tests on various frequency bands and modes and have to report back that my Alinco has out performed my Icom by quite a lot. Whether squelch is disabled (don't be confused with what squelch is) or not the Icom performs terribly.

As a person who loves DX'ing with squelch disabled, makes scanning more worth while until I go completely insane and have to enable it again! :)

I'm now on the prowl for something that can out perform my Alinco, any suggestions on a good receiver. All of my radios are portables so preferably keep it in this category.

What models? Handheld or desktop? Are they similar specifications (pointless comparing apples and oranges)? Most manufacturers have some duds.

I got the Alinco-DJX2000 and my AOR/GRE/ICOM/UNIDEN portable radios pick up better signals than the Alinco and i have got a lot of different portable antennas.
