jasonjag, 120.5 will often sound weaker because the antenna for Perth Tower is on the actual control tower whereas the antennas for departures and approach on 118.7 and 123.6 (for example) are in the hills and have a height advantage.

I knew that, but thought with this external antenna would be stronger than the standard one on the hand held. for aproach, departures and ground are clear. thanks "Steve" for that.
