Wow. Not bad Glen
For listening I've got a Uniden 3000XLT scanner, a Yaesu VX-5R amateur handheld, a Yaesu FT-8900, a Philips PRM8041 and a Philips FM91. Plus lots of other miscellaneous bits and pieces

I'm using:
1x Radio Shack Pro-28 (30ch)
1x Uniden Bearcat 57XLT (20ch)
1x Uniden Bearcat 120XLT (100ch)
2x Icom IC 400Pro's (128ch)
I use the Pro-28 & UBC57xlt together at work at my desk. The RadioShack has better audio and RX than the uniden and i keep the uniden on Fire/Police and the radioshack on Ambo's. The radioshack has an external aerial. The 57xlt doesn't have BNC connection but an SMA or some crap...
I use the UBC120xlt at home, mostly with an earpiece and a magnetic base with a steel whip on the window shelf in the bedroom and i use it mostly while trying to go to sleep. It seems to work well as i don't wake the missus up who's next to me and i often get tired trying to follow the 100channels i've got programmed in there. Although i laughed a bit last night at the taxi dispatcher having a verbal with a driver over the air...

I'm 1klm or so from the interstate train line which goes past late at night sometimes so i might have to tune in some rail freqs.
I use the Icom's in the cars. One in my work car and one in my 4wd. I did have a uniden 013 remote head but it was just too deaf and and TX signals while on the CB band were too weak. The icom blows it away with both TX and particularly RX. The although there's no search function the Icom is one of the better mobile 'receivers' i've owned. I have all the software so i can edit it's RX freqs on the laptop then download to the Icom.
I have been thinking about getting a UBCT-8 for use in the kitchen/office with an external aerial but i think it's overpriced and i'd rather something more like the 780xlt. I might just wait another 12-24 months and see what turns up in the digital market before i commit to another scanner.
